The story of an alliance of possibilities
In the world of sustainability and of business leaders who want to do business for good there is a gigantic fragmentation.
Hundreds of thousands initiatives that are all trying to go in the same direction.
What we are trying to do is to bring two big initiatives together instead of moving forward as fragmented entities.
Indeed talking with Satish Kumar, the founder of the Schumacher College, he was sharing with us how diverse the world is.
Diversity is there in nature everywhere, and at the same time all those species and elements of nature need to and are working together.
So it’s diversity and unity.
That is what we are doing here, by joining forces.
Working together really means trust; it means friendship; it means being relational; it means being human.
In light of all of the complexity in the world and in our organizations, with all the things we have to report on and measure, I think this coming together really is a manifestation of the trust and friendship that we have.
Paul Polman once said “the world needs more courageous leaders” but he also said “because we don’t have enough courageous leaders, if leaders join, together they are more courageous”
This is also what our other friend in Argentina, Pedro Tarak who says “leadership is togetherness”. Together we can really achieve what none of us can achieve alone. Also going back to Satish Kumar, he was telling us how fifteen thousand alumni over the last 40 years came through the Schumacher College. One of those alumni being COP26 Climate High Level Champion Nigel Topping. Amazing people who are doing fantastic work but who are not really united in one movement.
The idea of the global cooperative is that everyone who joins also becomes an owner of this network that we’re building together.
We want to create an economic and financial system so that everyone gets a dividend at the end of the year so it also creates a return.
Globally with the B Corp Community the Benefit Corporations and Regenerative Companies this could become really a powerhouse in helping the world go forward.
Indeed getting out of closed circles we can make it a bigger congregation, from a congregation to a bigger movement.
Obviously we want to have impact at scale by including as many leaders as possible and deepening that relationship with friendship.
Uniting with peer with fellowship, moving together in this transformation.
That’s really what we think becomes the value add.
For the shareholders of this growing community, where they are feeling valued. They feel supported, accompanied, nurtured and also challenged by other members in the community.
